Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Alleges Nexus Between CPI(M)-Led LDF and BJP

In a sharp political attack, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged a nexus between the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre.

Addressing a virtual election rally in Kozhikode, Kerala, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha claimed that this alleged understanding between the two political forces explains why central agencies have not taken action against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Gandhi asserted that, unlike other opposition leaders across the country who face scrutiny and action from central agencies, Vijayan has not been subjected to similar investigations.

He further stated that the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections present a clear contest between two sides. On one hand is the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), and on the other, what he described as a combined front of LDF and BJP.

According to Gandhi, the policies of the LDF government in Kerala are not fundamentally different from those of the BJP. He argued that both groups operate in a manner that does not prioritize accountability to the people of the state.

Raising questions over the functioning of investigative agencies, Gandhi asked why no significant action has been initiated against the Kerala Chief Minister despite allegations of corruption.

He suggested that opposition leaders who challenge the BJP at the national level are frequently targeted through legal cases, while others allegedly receive leniency.

The Congress leader claimed that the lack of progress in corruption-related cases involving the state leadership points toward a deeper political understanding between the LDF and BJP.

He also criticized the state government’s performance, alleging that instead of focusing on employment generation and technological growth, the administration has allowed issues like drug-related crimes to rise.

In conclusion, Gandhi reiterated his stance that the people of Kerala deserve a government that is transparent, accountable, and focused on development, urging voters to support the UDF in the upcoming elections.
